These DVD’s are out of print and go for quite a price, often fetching more than £300. I paid for my copy for £59 which translates to about $100 with shipping, but it is worth every penny.

“Star Fleet”

VHS Releases

Virtually no release of the series on VHS was proper. The closest was a rare tape released in the US under the series original title “X-Bomber” (though still “Star Fleet”) likely geared towards the anime fanbases, along with 4 tapes released in Canada containing episodes 1-8 uncut. Most footage obtained online were from both the Rental taps with many cut materials and the appallingly cut up compilation films sold in the UK. Most information is thanks to F-Zero-One.

The DVD's reportedly are taken simply straight off old VHS tapes of the series (which I've no information on). While they're in good condition for VHS tape rips, there are places where VHS tracking goes out and back with little to no attempts at cleaning it up. The episodes are simply one big track instead of many separate ones, although you can select the episode you wish to view. Contrary to claims online, there are NO English subtitles, much less any Afrikaans subtitles. While having "Interster" is definitely better than nothing, the DVD work is nothing short of shoddy.

This DVD and the second contain episodes 1-13, contrary to what is said of it being the complete Season 1. I don't own the DVD's, but the evidence comes from English speaking South African fans who've purchased this. The DVD is only sold on South African sites, and I don't think there's much of a way to get it out of the country.
